Canaan Downs/Rameka
At a Glance
Superb singletrack through the bush and tops high up on Takaka Hill.
Harwood's Hole Carpark at the end of the Canaan Road on top of Takaka Hill. Some riders prefer to leave their cars at the end of the seal and bike the 15km along Canaan Road.
The classic Rameka Track has some new friends in high places: The Canaan Downs Loop and connected tracks offer amazing riding through a wide variety of bush, paddock and hills.
The Canaan Downs tracks have been lovingly crafted by the Golden Bay Mountain Bike Club
The trail end has porta-loos and water taps (iffy for drinking but good for washing legs). No cell coverage at the carpark or on most of the tracks. Cell cover from top of the Canaan Saddle on the road. Nearest store is Takaka to the north or Riwaka to the south.
