MTB-Buddies - Nelson/Tasman Cyclists

We are a group (not a club) of friends who like to ride bikes of all sorts - mountain, road, track and even unicycles. This site exists to 'share the wealth' - we want to:
  • let people know about the great tracks around Nelson, Tasman and beyond
  • encourage more riders to join us on these tracks, and
  • motivate everyone to help out with track building, maintenance and improvement.
Please sign up for an account, show up for a ride or working bee, ask any questions and tell us what you think!

What no rides!? Sad
Upcoming social/group training rides would normally appear here, but things are a little quiet at the moment and it's empty.

Don't be shy - this is a community site so if you're heading out and would like some company, post your ride.

This was about people on the Moutere Highway, but I see it as applicable to any road cyclists, so I am posting it here for other roadies. The email came from Krista Hobday, the TDC road safety coordinator, who is a supporter of cyclists in the region

MTB-Buddies Website Use

Ok Buddies... If you have found this, please add a comment and let me know how you are finding this so far.
Its going to take a bit of traffic and info to flow to get the interest up.
Eventually the Wrap will be posted here rather than to individual mail boxes too.

DOC Area tracks all good to ride

Hi Steve
Can you let people know we have completed track clearing on Matai (100% clear again now!) Rimu and Sharlands Creek. There was a lot of pig rooting on Sharlands and this is now fixed, as well as a lot of clearing where the ruts have formed on the exit out. The pipe in the creek has been recovered with fresh dirt too so should be riding nicely.

The more people we can get riding Rimu and Matai, the less clearing work we will have to do in spring Smiling We saw 6 people come down the trail on Saturday which was awesome.

Cheers,

Regards,

Kelvin Brown

A little background

Over the last year or so, we (Steve Newport, Dale Swift and I, amongst others) have been trying to get the MTB-Buddies website up and going with useful content, lively forums and smart features. Since we were doing this around jobs, families and riding, the website always came out last, little progress was being made and hope appeared to be dim.
